About the Authors

Dr. Lynne Mitchell has worked in international education for over 30 years. She is Director of the Centre for International Programs (CIP) and International Liaison Officer for the University of Guelph. Lynne is a qualified administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory, and an Anti-racism Response Training (ART) Trainer. She regularly facilitates workshops aimed at enhancing participants’ ability to value and navigate difference in the workplace. Her facilitation style brings a participatory, learner-centred approach which acknowledges and builds on the life experience, identities and knowledge of each learner in a supportive environment that starts where learners are at. She is also the author of Who Do You Think You Are? Identity and Unconscious Bias at Work, an online micro-credential offered through the University of Guelph.

Megan Pickard has worked with faculty, instructors, and authors to create engaging, inclusive, and meaningful pedagogical experiences for over 15 years. She is Manager of Digital Learning Design and Innovation at the University of Guelph. She has a Master of Arts in History from the University of Guelph and a Master of Education in Adult Education and Digital Technologies from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Megan believes that every experience is a learning experience and enjoyed bringing her instructional design expertise to this project to help learners move forward in their career journey.

Dr. Kristopher Gies is Manager of Career Education with the Experiential Learning Hub at the University of Guelph. Dedicated to empowering students in matters relating to career exploration and the job search, his approach to career education is underpinned by promoting a growth mindset and planned happenstance. His own journey reflects this through not only a winding academic journey across three countries, but also a subsequent career path crossing academia, publishing, charitable outreach, and student services. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in History from the University of Guelph and a Career Development Practitioner graduate certificate from Conestoga College.

Special thanks to Cameron Edmunds for building the Pressbook and to Lily Abediny, Elaine Fenner, Suzanne Hagarty, Victoria Kennedy, Angeli Mehrotra, and Heather Powell for your early contributions to the project.
