Streams and Flooding

Floods are the most frequent natural hazard in Canada. They can occur at any time of the year and are most often caused by heavy rainfall, rapid spring melting of a thick winter snow pack, and ice jams. Flash flooding can be caused by hurricanes, violent storms or more rarely dam failure.

In this section, we will cover stream processes, overland flow and flooding.
