Team Reflection

In exploring Relevans story and their innovative approach to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we found a powerful example of how businesses can integrate in SDGs. Their dedication to sustainability extends beyond philanthropy; it incorporates environmental responsibility into its fundamental business processes.

The interview highlighted their dedication of creating more business for their clients by marketing, focusing on inbound strategy. The dialogue shed light on the intricate web of challenges and opportunities that frame the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), offering a profound understanding of their criticality and complexity. This narrative strikes a deep chord with our scholarly comprehension of sustainability. It confirms that companies can have an impact that goes beyond financial gain and promotes improvements in the environment and society. It questions the conventional understanding of corporate goals and broadens our understanding of the substantial influence businesses can have on more general social and environmental concerns.

This investigation made us reflect about our future responsibilities as business professionals. It serves as a reminder that our choices have consequences that affect both the environment and society. It motivates us to look for creative, long-lasting solutions in our future employment. We collaborated well as a team, allocating responsibilities according to individual strengths. In the end, our experience has helped to close the gap between theory and practice by demonstrating the real-world effects that companies can have on promoting environmental stewardship and social good, thereby influencing how we will approach ethical business practices in the future.

The group found that being able to share work and communicate with one another was effective. The ability to plan meetings using Zoom was quite helpful. We were able to stay in contact thanks to apps like WhatsApp.

Despite previous communication and schedule challenges, we were able to create an engaging story and poster for the AIM2Flourish activity. The story writing process was difficult because some of us was accustomed to working as a global online team.
Communication was the most challenging aspect of the project because of the time zones and individual schedules of our group, with some individuals being separated by around five hours. Setting up group meetings and occasionally replying to each other’s texts became challenging as a result of everyone being busy in the morning or at late. However, we were able to establish temporary time fixes so that we could attend the meetings and communicate.

Individual Reflections

Sandiswa Xulu

Working in a global online team was a great experience, it opened up different communication and team working skills. This activity has taught me a lot about the SDGs and how businesses work around the SDGs to improve their strategies. This experience has nourished my understanding on the practise of the global goals in businesses. I’ve realise that some activities in work places are dedicated in improving global development. The AIM2Flourish experience provided me with the opportunity to understand Sustainable Development goals. I’m grateful for the experience of working with different people from different locations. My team was very dedicated in well performance despite the challenges.

Siff Nylandsted Andersen

My reflection of our project: In relation to this project, I have felt very engaged in being an active part of the project. Since it was my company that was to be interviewed, Carla and I, the other Danish girl, were responsible for that, as well as creating the first draft of the storyline. After that, the work was divided, with two of the girls were in charge of the poster and the other two were responsible for the critical reflection, ensuring that the various elements were evenly divided. This was then discussed and processed in plenary on Zoom. It has been a bit challenging to communicate due to the language barrier, and the difference in cultural dynamics (for example, we Danes are very punctual) has been noticeable, but otherwise, it has been quite alright to find time for meetings and such. So all in all, it has been a very rewarding experience to work together across continents, despite the challenges that have arisen along the way.

From this cross-cultural experience, we learned the importance of understanding and appreciating different perspectives, as taught in our courses on intercultural communication and empathy. This learning complemented our teamwork by providing us with effective communication skills and problem-solving abilities, which were very helpful when facing challenges. We divided tasks based on each member’s interests and skills, making our teamwork more structured and productive. What worked well was the mutual respect and clear division of tasks; however, we faced challenges in coordinating schedules due to our differing availability. I am very grateful for the experience of working with diverse cultures, and we made every effort to work well as a team despite the challenges.

Syifa Nabila Ramadhani

During this period of time, i learned that working on this project with teammates from different countries has been a valuable experience and has broadened my understanding of global collaboration. Engaging with different perspectives not only improved our communication skill, but also built a sense of mutual respect, understanding, and appreciation among team members. I feel like there is no problem with our cultural differences and the discussion went smoothly. Although, the only thing i find kind of hard is when we tried to match the time zones to arrange the meeting, but after all we solved it, we were able to create a friendly workplace which everyone take parts and each contributions were valued. Overall, I am grateful for the experience working in the team and i believe everyone feels the same, this experience has taught me a lot about cross-cultural teamwork and how to accomplish our goals together despite the challenges we face.

Carla Marie Orting Jorgensen

Throughout the time period of this project, I have collected a bunch of knowledge from my teammates and the focus of sustainability in companies. Firstly, the experience of working across cultures has both advantages and limitations. I think that we were able to work very well together, and the sharing of knowledge went smoothly. I think that due to our cultural class at school, we were able to identify what cultural behaviours we could expect, and also how we are able to accommodate. As western students, we therefore made sure to be less direct and listen, and it all worked out well. The most difficult part working across cultures, is the scheduling and the fact that it is difficult to not split up the work. I think that we were able to accommodate each other well and made sure that everyone was included and felt prepared for the task. Overall, I believe we had a very good experience working in the team, and it has taught me more about the importance of teamwork and working with different cultures.

The AIM2Flourish experience provided valuable insights into sustainable business practices as well as responsible consumption and production. The experience highlighted the need for sustainable business practices to assist in achieving the 17 SDG goals, even if they are service oriented businesses. Despite technical difficulties and global time zone issues, the team successfully produced an interesting work piece for their story and poster. The course also introduced the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the duty of businesses to improve their operations. The experience highlighted the importance of incorporating CSR in every company, and the importance of adaptability and empathy in future collaborations. Relevans’s initiative towards sustainability has transformed the advertising industry, making it profitable and beneficial for the community and environment. The team’s diverse knowledge and skills contributed to the success of the project, broadening the understanding of global organizations and the interconnectedness of organizations. I may not see myself owning a business in the coming years, however I am equipped with the knowledge to advice the company I work for regarding Triple bottom line reporting measures.
