The experience of working in an international team to evaluate Nutrihuevos’ alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provided invaluable insights into the diversity and complexity of approaching corporate sustainability. The SDGs are broad in scope, encompassing social, economic, and environmental objectives. As we collaborated with students from different cultural and academic backgrounds, we came to appreciate how diverse perspectives can both enrich and challenge our understanding of sustainability in a business context. This reflection explores how our collaborative research on Nutrihuevos has deepened our understanding of corporate responsibility and the multifaceted approach needed to achieve the SDGs.
Working in a team with international students allowed us to explore sustainability from viewpoints shaped by different cultural values, educational backgrounds, and life experiences. For instance, students from countries with strong environmental policies brought unique perspectives on how businesses should integrate sustainable practices, while those from regions with limited access to nutritional resources offered insights into food security and equitable health solutions. These varied perspectives pushed us to think beyond our initial assumptions and holistically consider the SDGs. Rather than focusing on a single aspect of sustainability, such as environmental protection, our team discussions encouraged us to explore the interconnected nature of economic, social, and environmental objectives.
In particular, the Aim2Flourish project, which emphasizes sustainability and corporate social responsibility, challenged our understanding of how businesses can advance social and environmental goals. While we initially held a more basic understanding of corporate responsibility, shaped by what we had learned in class and our personal beliefs, our research broadened our perspective. As we delved deeper into Nutrihuevos’ operations, values, and overall impact, we found that the company’s approach both supported and challenged some of our initial theories about sustainability. This experience highlighted the importance of adaptability and openness in analyzing business practices through a sustainability lens, particularly when working in an international context.
Our research into Nutrihuevos provided insight into the complexities of balancing health, sustainability, and ethical considerations within the food industry. Nutrihuevos’ focus on producing nutrient-enriched eggs naturally led us to examine how food companies can contribute to SDGs while meeting consumer demands for health and sustainability. For instance, Nutrihuevos’ products are designed to address consumer interest in healthier food options, aligning with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being. The fact that even a simple food product like eggs can be fortified with additional nutrients to improve consumer health inspired us to think about the possibilities within the food industry. It demonstrated how companies can innovate to
meet both nutritional needs and ethical standards, opening our eyes to how food products can serve not only individual consumers but also contribute to broader public health goals.
This exploration of nutritional innovation challenged us to think more critically about how companies align their products with the SDGs. Nutrihuevos’ efforts to create nutrient-enhanced eggs made us realize that even basic consumer goods can have a meaningful impact on health outcomes. In addition to the nutritional benefits, we were also encouraged to consider how companies communicate these benefits to consumers. As part of our research, we explored how Nutrihuevos could improve transparency about its products’ health advantages and sustainability commitments, ensuring consumers are fully informed and empowered to make health-conscious choices.
Our research also focused on Nutrihuevos’ approach to SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, which introduced us to the challenges companies face in balancing sustainability with cost-effectiveness. For Nutrihuevos, adopting sustainable production practices might involve making choices about resource use, waste reduction, and ethical treatment of animals, all contributing to their environmental impact. By examining Nutrihuevos’ efforts to use eco-friendly packaging, reduce waste, and promote responsible farming methods, we gained insight into how food companies can support sustainable agriculture while navigating practical and financial constraints.
Our discussions about responsible consumption led to thought-provoking conversations about the challenges of sustainable business practices. For example, we discussed how Nutrihuevos’ decisions around packaging and resource management might be impacted by the need to remain competitive in a cost-sensitive market. This raised questions about how businesses can balance their sustainability goals with financial viability and whether consumers are willing to pay a premium for sustainably produced goods. This part of our research helped us develop a more nuanced understanding of corporate responsibility, showing us that companies often face difficult choices between maintaining high environmental standards and managing operational costs. It also deepened our appreciation for the importance of transparency, as companies that openly communicate their challenges and achievements in sustainability can build trust with consumers.
Through our research on Nutrihuevos, we developed a framework for evaluating the SDG alignment of businesses, particularly in the food industry. This framework helped us think critically about how companies define and communicate their sustainability goals, and it highlighted the role of innovation and transparency in building trust with consumers. As we looked into Nutrihuevos’ practices, we learned to identify areas where the company could improve its alignment with the SDGs, such as by investing in more sustainable production methods or enhancing the accessibility of its products for lower-income communities.
Our experience working on this project has been transformative, expanding our understanding of sustainability from a theoretical concept to a practical, multi-faceted challenge that businesses must address in various ways. In particular, it has shown us the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to sustainability, as achieving the SDGs requires collaboration across fields such as business, environmental science, and public health. Interviewing international students enriched this analysis by providing real-world perspectives on how people with different cultural and academic backgrounds perceive Nutrihuevos’ practices.
In conclusion, our research on Nutrihuevos has strengthened our understanding of how companies in the food industry can contribute to health, sustainability, and ethical goals. By working with international students, we gained a deeper appreciation for the diversity of perspectives on corporate responsibility, which has enhanced our ability to critically analyze business practices. Our findings emphasized the complexity of achieving the SDGs in a corporate context, where balancing social, economic, and environmental objectives often requires difficult trade-offs.
This experience has equipped us with valuable insights into the role of businesses in driving positive change, and it has broadened our understanding of how companies can meaningfully contribute to the SDGs. As we prepare for our future careers, we are more aware of the importance of cultural sensitivity, ethical responsibility, and transparent communication in promoting sustainable business practices. The lessons learned from this project will guide us in our professional journeys, encouraging us to approach corporate responsibility with an open mind, a critical eye, and a commitment to positive social impact.
Individual Reflection

My experience on this coil team was a great opportunity for me as an undergraduate student. Coil taught me a lot and taught me many things. It taught me different kinds of SDGs in many countries around the world. I gained knowledge on how other companies work and also benefit the environment. I gained new friends while doing this task. They are good and cooperative people. Engaging with people from diverse backgrounds offers a unique opportunity to understand different perspectives, traditions, and ways of thinking. These interactions broaden our worldview, challenge our preconceived notions, and foster empathy and respect for other cultures.
However, different locations and time zones are very difficult to deal with. Different times and schedules for each person are difficult. These are challenges that require patience, flexibility, and an openness to learn and understand. Reflectively, it is at such junctures that we find this not only challenges the art of intercultural communication but also our ability to work out and appreciate the multi-dimensional nature of global relationships.
Overall, joining COIL is a good experience and exciting for me. Despite all the differences and difficulties, I’m enjoying this opportunity that was given to me.

The Aim2Flourish project with my group, I have learned a lot of valuable experiences and lessons. Collaboration with teammates gave me a new perspective on how to work together to achieve a common goal. Working in a group gave me the opportunity to learn from different perspectives. Each team member has a different background and experience, so our discussions became richer and deeper. I learned that diversity in a team can strengthen the ideas and solutions we produce. Of course, not everything went smoothly. We faced challenges such as differences of opinion and difficulty in arranging time for meetings. However, we learned to listen to each other better and find solutions together. With open discussion and compromise, we managed to complete the project on time.
Through this project, I realized how important teamwork is in achieving a bigger goal. I also realized that each team member has a unique and important contribution. This collaboration not only strengthened the results of our project but also increased my understanding of the importance of business innovation in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Aim2Flourish project gave me valuable experience in working together in a team to explore positive business innovation. I feel inspired to continue supporting initiatives that have a social and environmental impact, both in my personal and professional life.

When I was chosen to be a part of this program, I set and goals for this program, expectations to meet people and engage with people from different parts for the world ,engage in sharing different stories about entrepreneurship and how different businesses address the development of their communities.
I am glad to say that I have encountered wonderful team members who have shown a dedication and excitement towards this opportunity. I have made a friend, her name is Ammara Pane, from Indonesia, who is a wonderful person to work with. My mentor Mr. F. Niyimbanira has made this a tremendous and transformational experience, encouraging my teammates and I, to take this opportunity with both hands.
The challenge I have experienced are commonly, the interference in communication due to living within different time zones . In some instances, our team meetings would only be about the work, not allowing us to communicate from a spectrum of forming connections, despite there being a few challenges, the we were able to help one another in achieving our weekly goals and fulfilling our tasks to the best of our abilities, each member sharing their perspective for the better of the teamwork.
The Aim2 Flourish platform has inspired me to continue to create ideas and businesses that my community will benefit from. Opportunity . This has been a great experience and I would have loved to interact with my teammates more while we grow in knowledge and exposure to different things.

My coil experience has instilled in me a deeper appreciation for teamwork and the importance of fostering inclusive supportive environment in future collaborations, assigning roles and responsibilities allowed each member to shine in their area of expertise and for learning new things too. We communicate effectively, we share ideas , we come up with solutions for any problems one thing about my team giving up is never a solution, we are forever dedicated , we motivate each other, we help each other, we are there for each other. Participating in the Aim2Flourish project was a transformative experience that illuminated the challenges and rewards of intercultural collaboration. Working in a team of individuals from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds presented a unique opportunity to expand my worldview and refine my understanding of global sustainability practices. The varied perspectives each member brought to discussions about Nutrihuevos’ alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) enriched the analysis, fostering creative and innovative solutions.
However, this diversity also posed challenges, particularly in managing communication across different time zones and cultural nuances. Scheduling meetings required significant patience and flexibility, as some members faced difficulties balancing the project with other commitments. These logistical hurdles tested the team’s ability to maintain cohesion, requiring clear communication and mutual understanding.
The project underscored the importance of inclusive leadership and adaptability in collaborative settings. By openly acknowledging and addressing conflicts or misunderstandings, the team cultivated a supportive environment where all members felt heard and valued. Reflecting on this experience, I gained a deeper appreciation for the complexity of intercultural teamwork. It taught me the value of empathy, open-mindedness, and strategic problem-solving, qualities that are essential for navigating global business challenges and advancing the SDGs in a meaningful way.

The Aim2Flourish project deepened my understanding of corporate responsibility by illustrating how businesses can align their practices with the SDGs. Researching Nutrihuevos highlighted the potential for companies in the food industry to make a meaningful impact on public health and environmental sustainability. Nutrihuevos’ innovative approach to producing nutrient-enriched eggs inspired me to think critically about how basic consumer products can contribute to broader societal goals, such as SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
Despite these insights, the project also revealed the challenges companies face in balancing sustainability goals with financial viability. For example, while Nutrihuevos implemented eco-friendly packaging and promoted responsible farming practices, it also navigated market pressures to remain competitive. These dilemmas emphasized the need for transparent communication with consumers, which builds trust and educates stakeholders about a company’s sustainability efforts and constraints.
This experience shifted my perspective on corporate responsibility from a theoretical concept to a practical, multifaceted challenge. It underscored the critical role of innovation, collaboration, and ethical decision-making in achieving sustainable business practices. As I move forward, I am inspired to apply these lessons in both personal and professional contexts, advocating for sustainable and socially impactful business strategies.
