African and Middle Eastern Businesses
The following stories are from businesses in Africa and the Middle East. The instructor reflection here is from Prof. Ferdinand Niyimbanira, University of Mpumalanga, South Africa.
Teamwork is the key to a successful COIL
As I reflect on this COIL, I am reminded of the power of teamwork. Being one of the facilitators, it was an opportunity and a privilege of working alongside dedicated and passionate educators who shared a common goal: to provide the best possible knowledge and networking to our students. Our COIL success was built on a foundation of respect, dedication and open communication to both students and facilitators. The weekly meeting, WhatsApp group and other means of communication helped us to achieve a successful COIL initiative. We worked together to plan and share our experiences from previous COILs which led to ideas of creating engaging and effective learning experiences for participant students.
The impact of our teamwork was evident in the outstanding results achieved by our students. Especially the creativity on the posters making. They demonstrated a deeper understanding of the business innovations for global good. In addition, they improved their critical thinking and problem-solving skills with sustainable development goals in mind. As I look back on our team’s experience, I am reminded of the importance of collaboration and teamwork in achieving success. By working together towards a common goal, we were able to achieve more as was shared by our students during the final and closing meeting with them. As I always say, COIL is a way to go, if one wants to make students enjoy, learn well and be engaged in a particular module.
