Application of Lead Shank over Nose
Note: An almost perfect example, but I leaned over the horse’s head to clip the shank on the right side… I’d prefer if you walk around to that side to see what you are doing instead of risking being head butted by the horse if they toss their head as you are leaning over. “Do what I say, not what I do…” 🙂
Application of Lead Shank Under Halter
Note: This method of securing the lead shank to the halter is commonplace in many barns, but we ask that you use the chain-over-the-nose method instead when at OVC due to the unpredictable chaos that can happen in such a large hospital setting.
