Chapter Summary

This chapter should have provided you with a deep understanding of how hormones are regulated and secreted in various aspects of the human body. Hormones play an important role in maintaining a healthy system by regulating calcium/phosphate, glucose and sexual characteristics. There are many regulated variables that can be sensed by the body and signal to elicit the proper response. It is amazing how hormones can work together to ensure the body is maintaining homeostasis and functioning in an effective manner. As you move on to study the gastrointestinal tract, take note of the hormones that will be discussed and recall their ability to regulate the body.
